Taking me awhile to read because I don't have a lot of time, but I'm so happy everytime I sit down to read! What twists and turns!
Mike Kelly is back in this stylish thriller composed by the knowledgeable and capable David Rollison. This time Mike Kelly, ex-Delta Force combat veteran and counter-terrorist operative with the Department of Homeland Security, is engaged in an incredible whodunit and howwegonnacatchem set in the Caribbean island of Aruba. The first novel, The Black Dagger, focused on foreign terrorism in side the United States. This novel delves into international crime and the scourge of white slavery. Well written with sympathetic heroes, richly drawn villains that will intrigue and infuriate, and with plenty of unexpected twists and turns along the way. The noir-like ending is a careening explosion worthy of Elmore Leonard. This books uses some of the same characters as The Black Dagger, but it is not necessary to have read that book to enjoy this one. However, I highly recommend you check both books out.
This fast paced book was riddled with twists and turns that were realistic and breathtaking. Human trafficking and the puzzle of tying to outwit the criminal element was the forefront for this story and the author did such a fabulous job keeping me interested and turning the pages. It was hard to put down because the deeper I got into the story the more vested in all the characters I was. This is the first book I've read from this author but I am hungry for more these edge of your seat reads. Awesomely done.
